Cross examination of Ta Awai Ching continued.

In February 1931 I came to Hong Kong with Lai Ming

Fai, her mother and Bessie and stayed at 79 Wongnai chong Road.

When we first came to the house we did not see the accused.

Sometime afterwards he came to sleep there. It was about

7 months later that we removed to Village Road. I don't

remember how long he lived at 79 wongnaichong Road.

I never saw George Fung during the seven months at 79

Wongnaichong Road: (On re-reading she alters to "geerge

Fun came once to 79 Wongnaichong Road),

While we were in Village Road Lai Ming Fai often

went out alone: sometimes she said she was going shopping,

sometime sto the cinema.

I don't remember exactly the date on which Imi

Ming Fai and her mother left 50 Village Road in the middle

of let mown (about 20th February). They left on a Monday.

The accused came in the afternoon of the day before. Lai

King Yai was not there · her mother was The accused made

a search of the drawers in the chest of drawers in a room

occupied by himself and Lai Ming Fai. On the aftemoon of

that day I saw a bundle of clothes on the chest of drawers.

They were Lai Ming Fai's. I don't know why they were made

up into a bundle. I heard no conversation between accused

and Lai Ming Fai's mother. I received instructions from

Lai King Fai's mother. In consequence I went to "epulse

Bay by car. The fare was paid by Miss Lai 's mother. I

went by public car. I brought Lai Ming Fai back. I came

back in the public ear first, not with Ld Ming Fai. I

was in the same car as Lai Ming Fsi. I was not in the
